Charlotte, NC. (Exact location and date to be determined)
In this workshop, we will explore the hidden depths of the prayer traditionally translated as "Our Father Which Art in Heaven...", a message of radiant love which emerges from a study of Jesus' words in his native language. This view of Jesus' words is the work of Neil Douglas-Klotz, author of "Prayers of the Cosmos: Meditations on the Aramaic Words of Jesus." In the first session of the workshop, we will review the history of the prayer, learn the Aramaic words, and attune to it using body prayers, chanting and singing the lines.
Following an intermission, we will dance the Aramaic Prayer Dance Cycle, offered in the tradition of the Dances of Universal Peace. Words, music and movements for each line are taught; no prior experience is needed. Presented by Amina Linda McMakin, a certified Dance Leader and Mentor Teacher for the Dances of Universal Peace. Amina has been a student of the Aramaic teachings of Jesus since 1995 and is currently a participant in the Aramaic Interspiritual Leadership Program conducted by Neil Douglas-Klotz.
Registration fees: Workshop - $20; Dance Cycle - $10; register for both - $25. For more information and to register, contact Dan Hurley at danielshurley@yahoo.com. For more information about the Aramaic Prayer and other work of Neil Douglas-Klotz, visit www.abwoon.com
